Cancellation policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
1. Scope and terms used
This policy applies to every in-person notarization appointment booked on satxnotary.com (a "visit"). In this policy, the "start time" is the appointment time in your confirmation, in Central time; the "travel fee" is the separate charge for travel shown in your quote, which is not a notarial fee; and the "late-cancellation fee" is 15% of that visit's travel fee.
The short version, as the booking page states it: You may cancel at no charge until 1 hour before the start time. For a later cancellation, a signer who does not appear, a signer without identification Texas accepts, or an incomplete document that cannot be fixed at the visit, the fee is 15% of the travel fee, charged only if the notary records it. Any other refusal by the notary carries no fee.
Your card is saved through Stripe when you book. It is charged after the notarizations are completed, for the notarial acts performed plus travel, never more than the quoted total. If the notary refuses, there is no charge, except the fee above for a signer who does not appear, a signer without identification Texas accepts, or an incomplete document that cannot be fixed at the visit.
2. How to cancel
A visit is cancelled only on its appointment page, from the link in your confirmation email. An email does not cancel a visit. A cancellation takes effect when you confirm it on that page.
If you cannot find your appointment link, email us and we will resend it. Resending the link does not cancel the visit. Email: notary@satxnotary.com.
3. Cancelling at no charge
You may cancel at no charge until 1 hour before the start time. Your card is not charged, and nothing else is owed.
4. Late cancellation
If you cancel less than 1 hour before the start time, the late-cancellation fee may be charged to your card on file. It is charged only if the notary records it, and the notary may waive it. Your appointment page warns you of the fee before you confirm a cancellation inside that hour.
| Distance from our base | Travel fee | Fee (15%) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 road miles | $15 | $2.25 |
| Up to 10 road miles | $24 | $3.60 |
| Up to 20 road miles | $39 | $5.85 |
| Up to 30 road miles | $54 | $8.10 |
| More than 30 and up to 50 road miles | $54 plus $1.50 per road mile, one way, beyond 30 | up to $12.60 |
The fee is 15% of the travel fee, rounded down to the cent. Travel fees and the 15% fee include Texas state and local sales and use tax. Notarial fees are not taxed.
5. Rescheduling
To change the time of a visit, cancel it and book a new time on the booking page. The cancellation follows sections 3 and 4.
6. A signer who does not appear
If a signer does not appear for the visit, the notarization is not performed and the visit is treated as a late cancellation: the fee is 15% of the travel fee, charged only if the notary records it.
7. A signer without identification Texas accepts
If a signer appears without identification that Texas accepts, the notarization of that signer cannot be performed. If no notarial act can be performed at the visit for that reason, the visit is treated as a late cancellation: the fee is 15% of the travel fee, charged only if the notary records it.
8. An incomplete document
If the document is incomplete and the problem cannot be fixed at the visit, the notarization is not performed and the visit is treated as a late cancellation: the fee is 15% of the travel fee, charged only if the notary records it. The booking page lists everything the appointment requires before you confirm, so you can check the document first.
9. The notary's right to refuse
The notary has the right to refuse a notarization. If the notary refuses for any reason other than a signer who does not appear, a signer without identification Texas accepts, or an incomplete document that cannot be fixed at the visit (sections 6 to 8), no fee of any kind is charged.
10. If the notary is late or cannot attend
If the notary will be late, we tell you as soon as we know. You may wait, or tell us you would rather not wait; the notary then cancels the visit, and no fee of any kind is charged.
If the notary cannot attend, the notary cancels the visit, and you receive an email saying so. You owe no fee of any kind, and you may book a new time on the booking page.
11. Partial completion
If only some of the booked notarial acts are performed (for example, one signer of two), your card is charged only for the notarial acts performed plus travel, never more than the quoted total. If no notarial act is performed, there is no charge except the late-cancellation fee in the cases in sections 4 and 6 to 8.
12. One charge per visit
A visit carries either the charge for the notarial acts performed plus travel, or the late-cancellation fee, never both, and at most one late-cancellation fee.
13. If your card is declined
If your saved card cannot be charged, the amount remains due: we will contact you to arrange payment, and we never ask for card numbers by email.
14. Refunds
If you were charged in error, or charged a fee this policy does not allow, tell us by email. We refund it to the card it was charged to, through Stripe. A refund can take several business days to appear on your statement.
15. Questions and disputes about a charge
If you disagree with a charge, contact us first by email, with the date of the visit, and we will answer. This does not limit any right you have with your card issuer.
16. Online notarizations
Online notarization through notarizetexas.io is coming soon. Online appointments will follow that site's own cancellation policy.
